It is with great sadness that we have been notified of the passing of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
The following information has been sent from NWLDC as per Operation Forth bridge which is in accordance with his wishes.
- Flags will fly at half mast
(Half-mast means the flag is flown two-thirds of the way up the flagpole, with at least the height of the flag between the top of the flag and the top of the flagpole.
- There will be no physical books of condolence in local authority buildings. All messages of condolence will be made online via a virtual condolence book. This will be signposted on the Council's website.
- The will be no floral tributes as per his wishes. Public mourning and laying of floral tributes in public spaces will be discouraged to avoid groups of people gathering. This message will be shared via our website, social media and a press release.
- There will be a cancellation of planned events (even though probably virtual) on the day of the death, the eve of the funeral and on the day of the funeral.
